Classic anime television series Voltes V is getting a live-action adaptation in the Philippines known as Voltes V: Legacy. The Philippine adaptation of the popular robot-theme anime series will be produced and directed by Mark A. Reyes, a Filipino popular director known for his works in Filipino fantasy series 'Encantadia'. Voltes V is considered to be the most iconic anime series in the Philippines due to its history in the country.

On December 31, 2019, Philippine free TV network GMA released the first teaser of Voltes V: Legacy and a follow-up trailer was released on January 14, 2021. Take a look at the official trailer of Voltes V: Legacy featuring the Camp Big Falcon base, Boazanian's fleet, the live-action counterpart of Voltes Team leader Kenichi Go, a brief clip of Voltes V formation and some live-action fight scenes of the adaptation.

According to Director Reyes, Voltes V: Legacy project has been in the works for five years. The live-action adaptation is supposed to be released in 2020 but due to COVID-19 pandemic, the per-production has been push back to later dates and resumed on July 30, 2020. Riot Inc. (Encantadia) will be in-charge of its visual effects with approval and supervision from Toei Company of Japan. GMA's own video graphic department will be taking part in the production as well.

What are your thoughts about Voltes V: Legacy? It's a great sign for the Philippines to step up its shows and adapting into a live-action of a robot theme anime series is no joke and takes a lot of effort for this ambitious project. I hope the live-action adaptation will give justice to the legacy of Voltes V.
