Call of Duty Online (CODOL) in Mainland China is scheduled to shut down its operation in the region after six years of existence. According to Niko Partners' Analyst Daniel Ahmad, lack of renewal from Activision and poor revenue sales were the main reason for the game to discontinue its operation.
Remaining players of CODOL were encourage to migrate to a mobile iteration of the game called Call of Duty: Mobile developed by Tencent's TiMi Studios (Honor of Kings) and published by Activision. CODOL players who will switch to COD Mobile will be given compensations.
Call of Duty Online is a first person shooter game developed by Activision Shanghai and Raven Software and published by Tencent Games for Chinese Mainland players. Beta version of the game was released on September 28, 2012 and the game was officially released in 2015. Call of Duty Online will shut down effectively on August 31, 2021.
